CAST: Javier Bardem (David), Francesca Neri (Elena), Liberto Rabal (Víctor Plaza), Ángela Molina (Clara), José Sancho (Sancho). She barely remembers anything about the past, however, and attempts to shoot him. Fantastic atmosphere created by Pedro Almodovar!!And I love the soundtrack especially Chavela Varga's "Somos" "Somos un sueño imposible. Pedro Almodovar directs this adaptation of the novel by Ruth Rendell. A really emotional film about a man called Victor, The whole film is subtitled in Spanish but you become so absorbed by the story that you don't notice. The DVD cover and title make it sound like a porn movie. SCRIPT: Pedro Almodóvar (po romanu «Live Flesh» Ruth Rendell. Live Flesh is even less flamboyant than his scaled-down The Flower of My Secret . From critically acclaimed, erotically candid writer/director Pedro Almodóvar (Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down ; Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) comes a raw, seductive tale based on a novel by British mystery writer Ruth Rendell. In actual fact, Victor is blamed for injuring a policeman. Victor Plaza (Liberto Rabal) goes to meet drug-addicted diplomat's daughter Elena ( Francesca Neri) after losing his virginity to her. Almodóvar, born under the restrictive Franco regime, has always gravitated to excesses in sex and politics. In no other body of work is the sexuality of human flesh explored as truthfully as in the transgressive, erotically charged images created by Egon Schiele. Javier Bardem, again makes the film come to life via plot twists and how 4 characters intertwine themselves sexually with others -- and what the ramifications are. It's also his 'straightest' film yet, what with its emphasis on David's 'Special Olympics' basketball games, twin childbirth scenes and complete dearth of even questionably gay characters. Live Flesh, buoyed by keenly observant performances, is wildly seductive, subversively funny and coiled to spring. Simple, pure imager, no over the top, but beautiful, surprisingly storytelling.
